FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • I recommend scheduling maternity portraits between 30–35 weeks, when your bump is beautifully visible but you’re still comfortable. This timing can vary depending on your pregnancy.

  • Sessions can be done in your home or at a local park or nature area you love. I’m always happy to suggest locations if you need ideas.

  • I recommend booking your session before you baby is born, to ensure I am available. I recommend scheduling your session for about 10-12 days after your due date, as the ideal time for newborn portraits is when the baby is between one to two weeks old. However, if you baby arrives before or after your due date, we can always adjust! It’s also perfectly fine to wait until your baby is older - they just become more alert and wiggly around two weeks of age.

  • After you book your session, I’ll share my outfit inspiration Pinterest board and some tips for how to dress. Don't worry about messy rooms or everything being clean - just tidy up the rooms you think you'd like to take pictures in, and I'll help with moving things around and organizing as well.

  • Absolutely! My pregnancy and newborn sessions are about documenting the whole family, so everyone is welcome. Typically, newborn sessions are about one-third just portraits of the baby, two-thirds baby with their parents, siblings, etc.

  • I do provide a few decorative swaddle wraps as an option, however I mostly rely on what you have in your home for the baby - my desire is for your portraits to reflect the real story of your baby’s first days, so a special handmade blanket or heirloom outfit are far more precious than anything generic that I could provide.

  • All sessions include high-resolution digital images delivered via an online gallery, with full printing and sharing rights. You’ll also have the option to order professional prints and albums directly from your gallery.

“We love how simple and slow the session felt! Mary Claire’s patience as we took photos with a fussy / alert new born was a blessing. We love our photos and couldn’t be more thrilled to have our early days with her captured so beautifully! We look forward to her camera capturing her as she grows in the future!”
